The Arizona Association of Independent Paralegals
(AAIP) is a non-profit organization comprised of non-lawyer document preparers throughout the state of Arizona. |

AAIP CODE OF ETHICS
|
|
|
|

No member of the AAIP shall represent himself/herself to the public at large or to any individuals as being lawyers or affiliated with lawyers.

A member shall not knowingly prepare documents or provide services to parties on both sides of any given matter.

A member of the AAIP shall hold confidential any and all information obtained from individuals in the process of producing documents or other work product, and shall not divulge that information to any outside person or agency without the express permission of the individual concerned, except as shall be ordered by a court of law, or other legal entity authorized by statute to demand such information.

A member of AAIP shall at all times strive to avoid impropriety or the appearance of impropriety in the performance of his/her duties as an independent paralegal or document
preparer.

In the process of advertising his/her products or services, an AAIP member should refrain from denigrating or otherwise calling into disrepute the products or services that may be offered by another specific document preparation service or attorney.

A member of the AAIP may not represent a client as an Attorney-in-Fact; nor may he/she appear on behalf of a client in any court hearing or other government hearing or tribunal.

AAIP MISSION
STATEMENT |
|
|
|
The mission of the AAIP is to advance the practice of independent paralegals in providing document preparation and other related services to Arizona citizens; to inform the public of the choices available in handling their legal affairs simply and affordably; and to oppose efforts by any person or entity to restrict these rights.
The Arizona Association of Independent Paralegals is dedicated to the principal that the law is created by the people and for the people, and that Arizona citizens have the right to retain and employ a person of their choice to assist them in the preparation of their legal documents. |

AAIP MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS |
|
|
|

Members are businesses, not individuals.

Member businesses must be certified to prepare legal documents by the Arizona Supreme
Court.

That the principals and shareholders are not currently a members or employees of the State Bar of Arizona or any other State Bar Association and have not been disbarred by the State Bar of Arizona or any other State Bar
Association.

That the member business has been in business for not less than 6
months.

That the member business does not have a derogatory report with the local Better Business Bureau; nor do the principals or stockholders have derogatory Better business Bureau Reports in this or any other state related to a similar type of
business.

That none of the principals or all shareholders of the member businesses are convicted felons.
